Mesh tension: A measure of mesh deflection expressed in terms of Newtons per centimeter (N/cm). 

Tension should be looked at in two ways: the initial stretching and re-tensioning of mesh on your frames, and the ways in which tension interacts with other variables during printing. It's difficult to understand its dynamics without looking at tension relative to off-contact distance and squeegee-blade pressure, so be sure to visit those variables after you've read about this one.

The twofold job of mesh tension is to provide resistance for the blade-to be overcome only at the point where the blade forces mesh-to-substrate contact-and to pull the mesh out of the ink film after the blade passes.

Weave structure

Plain weave versus twill weave.

With plain weave, each thread goes under one perpendicular thread and over the next. With twill weave, a given thread follows an under-one/over-two pattern.

Mesh counts higher than 305 may be woven with plain or twill patterns. Twill mesh typically deposits more ink than the same or even a lower mesh count of plain weave.

Mesh opening

The dimensions of the mesh openings affect stencil support, meter ink flow and contribute to the print's appearance.

The best mesh for screen printing is commonly woven out of monofilament polyester and it functions both as support for the stencil and to meter the amount of ink deposited on the substrate. The dimensions of the mesh count, percentage of open area and thread thickness all contribute to the appearance of the end product. You will find that accurate measurements of these mesh specifications are supplied by the manufacturer. Poor image registration, image elongation and uneven ink deposits can result from the improper selection or preparation of the mesh fabric.

Here is an easy choice: when faced with multi-filament and monofilament polyester mesh, pick high-quality monofilament. Man-made fibers are made with either multiple or single filaments. Monofilament is a single smooth round fiber used in weaving mesh.

At present, the only suitable, modern mesh fiber is high-quality monofilament polyester: round and smooth. It has superior elongation and strength characteristics, has no loss of strength when wet and, in fact, absorbs less than 0.8 percent moisture. Absorption of moisture is an important consideration, as this is such a wet process.

Question

When printing four-color process, we know the importance of the angles used for the dots on the color separations. We also know we have to avoid certain combinations of mesh count with dots per inch on the positive in order to avoid moiré. What we are looking for are some guidelines on which mesh specification is most suitable for printing four-color process, and how fine a dot we should be able to hold.

Water Based Ink vs Plastisol

Water-based ink versus plastisol: one is made of water and one is made of plastic. Simple. But while the difference is easy enough to read in the names, how this difference impacts your screenprint takes a little more research. We're going to look more in depth at each type, advantages and disadvantages, and use the differences to see which one would work best for you.

Frames

There are two types of screen frames, metal and wood. Metal frames, both static (solid) and retentionable, have become the industry standard. Retentionables do not require the use of adhesive products.

Metal frames have been replaced by wood because they do not warp from water like wood frames do. The most commonly used types of wood are cedar and pine. Pine is preferred because it is more water resistant while it is light weight.

Monofilament synthetic fibers can be woven very precisely to create industrial textiles with narrow pore distribution. This precision weaving process creates fine mesh woven fabrics with apertures (hole sizes) as small as 10 micron, with a strand and thickness tolerance of +/-10%.

Applications:

Screen printing (or silk printing) is arguably the most versatile of all printing processes. It can be used to print on a wide variety of substrates, including paper, paperboard, plastics, glass, metals, fabrics, and many other materials. including paper, plastics, glass, metals, nylon and cotton. Some common products from the screen printing industry include posters, labels, decals, signage, and all types of textiles and electronic circuit boards. The advantage of screenprinting over other print processes is that the press can print on substrates of any shape, thickness and size.

There are quite a few types of mesh fabrics available and they can be made from many types of substrates. There are multifilament and monofilament threads, stainless steel, nylon, polyester, and silk.

This article is limited to monofilament polyester printing mesh, the best and cheapest choice for screen printing garments. You have for example many choices in thread weave available. The plain weaves (Fig. 1) and the twill weaves. (Fig.2) Twill weaves can provide higher ink volume when used in higher meshes but the ability to hold sharp edges with a coated emulsion is diminished.(Fig. 3) Almost all applications will be best served with a plain weave.

Even though, we have stepped into the Summer Season for sometime, however, we have been experiencing plum rain season, raining all the day but of course, weather is cooler. BUT now, Plum Rain Season is gone and Summer comes into full wing, temperature is going up and it's getting hotter and hotter day by day.

So SHARE decides to give 4hours off during the workday from 11am to 3pm, this period is the hottest time of the day, workers can have a good rest during this time. SHARE doesn't fall behind the production schedule since SHARE makes up the time in the evening and SHARE is trying to finish clients' order as planned and not affected by hot weather.

SHARE has been in the filter mesh production filed for more than 30 years, introduced Swiss Weaving Looms, German Weaving Reeds, SHARE is capable to producing polyester filter mesh and nylon filter mesh with rating from 10um to 1500um.

With our capabilities in producing stable filter meshes, SHARE is also supplying clients with different fabricated mesh filters, such as hot-slitting mesh ribbons, heat-sealed mesh filter bags (such as medical biopsy bags, tea bags), cold-stamping mesh pieces (such as round mesh discs, long mesh piece, etc).

Mesh Count: 

The number of threads per linear inch (norminal mesh count). Screen fabrics are woven in threads per centimeter and then the number is calculated to English measurement for sale into parts of the world that don’t use the metric system 

Example: A fabric woven at 120 threads/cm equals 305 threads/inch. The figure is calculated by multiplying 120 x 2.54=304.8, this number is rounded up to 305
